How did Utah's Congressional delegation feel about President Obama's speech Tuesday night?
The only Democrat, 2nd District Representative Jim Matheson, says he appreciated Obama's insistence on oversight of the Wall Street bailout
and stimulus. Matheson says it's important for people to gain a greater sense of confidence in what the government is doing.
Republican 3rd District Representative Jason Chaffetz was skeptical of the president's promise to cut the deficit and trim government spending. But he was happy the president struck a confident tone.
Republican 1st District Representative Rob Bishop found plenty to agree with, but said he wondered if Democratic leaders like Speaker Pelosi can produce legislation that promotes solutions instead of preventing them.
Republican Senator Orrin Hatch was impressed with the speech but wondered how Obama will turn his elegant prose into policy with the current Democratic leadership.
And Republican Senator Bob Bennett found the speech "brilliant," but said there seems to be a gap between the president and his party's leadership.
