Today is Utah PTA Day at the Utah State Capitol. Members of the organization will attend House and Senate floor meetings to talk to individual legislators and discuss legislative issues at a lunch in the Rotunda with lawmakers and the Governor.
This year PTA members are concerned about Senate Bill 199, which says other parent groups should have a voice in school and district decisions regardless of whether they belong to the PTA.
Logan PTA Council President Jayne Hamblin says you don't have to join PTA to volunteer in the schools because she says the teachers and students need all the help they can get.
