Once again, hundreds of senior citizens will be coming to Logan from Arizona and other places to participate for several weeks in the Utah State University sponsored Summer Citizens Program.

Coordinator Lee Ann Lundgren says attendees enjoy the cooler climate, the beautiful scenery and the opportunities they get for just $75 per card.

Lundgren says what some people don't know is that local seniors can be part of the same program and their card costs only $40.

This is the second year Karen Madsen has participated, and she calls it a real bargain. On KVUN's Crosstalk show, Madsen said last year she and her husband took two classes at USU, National Security and Ross Peterson's History-Political Science class.

Madsen said there's always plenty of parking, the classes are very informative and they would like to check out additional classes to attend this summer.

Lundgren says new benefits are always being added and this year there are tours to such places as Salt Lake City, Bear Lake and Yellowstone Park.

She says an orientation meeing for prospective local summer citizens will be held March 16th at 3 p.m. in the Historic Cache County Court House.
