A Cache County Jail inmate is facing new aggravated assault charges after he hit another inmate over the head with a mop. Captain Kim Cheshire, from the Jail Division of the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, says the alleged incident happened February 24th when inmates were cleaning an area of the jail.

One inmate said a part of the floor wasn’t cleaned properly and so 33-year old Vail Ambrosia allegedly hit him with a mop. Cheshire says a deputy was walking by at the time and witnessed the attack.

The incident was turned over to investigators who obtained video from jailhouse cameras which documented the outburst.

The inmate who was attacked received minor injuries and was treated by jail medical staff. An aggravated assault charge by an inmate is a second degree felony.
